Construction Cluster Zuid has been completed

Last week, the renovated building for Leiden University’s Faculty of Humanities was delivered. Management of the building, named Herta Mohr, has now been officially handed over to the Faculty. The building’s name refers to the Egyptologist Herta Mohr and is the first time a Leiden University building has been named after a female scientist.

This is not the only unique thing about the project. The renovation expanded the building from 7.850 to 11.400 m2. At the same time, there was a strong focus on sustainability by reusing materials and paying attention to the circularity of added materials. Besides being a sustainable building, the atrium in the central hall also provides plenty of light.

From May onwards, the first institutes and users will move into the building. The lecture halls will be in use from September. For the execution, we collaborated with Combinatie Cluster Zuid: Constructif, Nelissen ingenieursbureau and Kuijpers. We also thank HARRYVAN, New Horizon, Bwri, Pieters Bouwtechniek BV, Buro Bouwfysica, DGMR and Fokkema & Partners Architects for their excellent cooperation!
