Contractor agreement signed for the new BWRI building

In early May, the contractor agreement for the new building of the BWRI office for reintegration, work and income was signed in the old BWRI warehouse. The BWRI centre in the municipality of Midden-Groningen will get a new building in Sappemeer. Its three current and outdated locations will be merged into one new, efficient, sustainable and energy-neutral building.

The new building brings together the different roles and departments and acts as an accessible and welcoming place for a diverse and sometimes vulnerable group. In addition to a cost-efficient and compact building, high sustainability standards were also set. Instead of demolishing the existing building on site, we will reuse much of the existing steel trusses and concrete floors. Moreover, it will use a bio-based wood construction with columns, beams and hollow-core wooden flooring.

We are pleased that the project is now another step closer to realisation and look forward to further developing the design with the entire team and our collaboration partners.
