Dutch Timber Award for Liander Westpoort
Another great achievement, the professional jury designated Liander Westpoort, Alliander’s regional office as the winner of the overall prize!
Flexibility, collaboration and innovation were key factors the jury took into account in its decision. “The building is built with maximum flexibility: floor plans not only have the possibility to be easily changed, the building could also be converted into housing one day without much effort.”
“The expert jury chose this building as overall winner mainly because the architect, in collaboration with the structural engineer, did not choose the obvious solutions, but developed a number of innovations in consultation with the timber suppliers. For instance, a column-bearing construction was developed that reduces the need for sawing the laminated beams and thus increases their value when dismantled. A special solution was also found for the wooden floors, which I am sure will be used in other projects.”
