How can Grevenbroich’s city centre be made future-proof

Last week, De Zwarte Hond worked together with local residents and representatives of the city of Grevenbroich to enthusiastically develop ideas for the city centre. Using a city model and cards illustrating spatial interventions, we created concrete urban scenarios and discussed them in detail.

The conversations highlighted the great potential of the Erft River as a natural space, which should be made more accessible. More green spaces, better cycling connections, and enhancing public spaces to support local retail were key topics. At the same time, challenges such as vacant retail spaces and the difficult crossing of Ostwall became apparent.

All results will be incorporated into our structural framework and urban strategies. De Zwarte Hond will continue to guide this process and will translate the strategies into concrete urban designs for key sites in Grevenbroich’s city centre during the next participation phase.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their ideas and efforts! We look forward to the next steps in this process.
