Presenting our masterplan for Stadteingang West Berlin
Yesterday we presented our masterplan for the ‘Stadteingang West’ in Berlin with our partners from RMP Stephan Lenzen Landschaftsarchitekten, Schüßler-Plan Ingenieurgesellschaft, 1komma2 and Metabolic.
In our plan, we focus on creating new green connections that run from the Grunewald through the new neighbourhoods, accompanying the Westring, passing by the Westkreuz towards the inner city of Berlin. This will open up the Westkreuz and the Westring will become the new ground floor level, offering a different way to experience the city's western entrance and its surroundings. At the same time it creates a high density of new developments and concentrates uses in specific locations. Not only creating lively neighbourhoods and a sense of security, but also adding value to the existing infrastructure. With the ICC-Park, the historical value of the Funkturm, ICC, Mercedes-Haus and Avus Tribüne are also going to be respected.
The 45 ha planning site is located in the area of today's Westkreuz. So far mainly known as a traffic junction for entering the city, with our plan we want to transform it into a green entrance for Berlin that offers room for further area developments.
