Productive 2015 inspires confidence for 2016
De Zwarte Hond looks back on a productive 2015. In June the partner team was strengthened by the arrival of five young partners. With nine partners in total, supported by a growing team of experienced staff, we increased our power base and succeeded in further consolidating our roots in society. This led to a substantial, wide-ranging order portfolio with many new projects and a clear position in the debate on spatial design.
We have been closely involved, for example, in IABR-2016, the International Architecture Biennale in Rotterdam, and in Groningen we are doing a lot of research into earthquake-resistant construction. We won important competitions in Utrecht and Hamburg and, with the title of BNA Best Building of 2015 for the Montessori School in Waalsdorp in the Stimulating Environment category, we reaffirmed the quality of our school buildings. In 2015 we also worked on many transformation assignments. For example, together with Powerhouse Company, we designed new accommodation in an existing building for DNV GL and we upgraded Assen City Hall. Examples of our current, ongoing work include the transformation of the town hall in Bussum, the new accommodation for Zuidpleintheater in Rotterdam and a multi-functional centre in the heart of Krefeld (DE). All these are projects in which we have needed to apply our knowledge of the city or town in question and the best way of creating sensitive and appropriate projects there. More from us on this subject next year!
We therefore bring 2015 to a very satisfactory close and look forward with confidence to 2016. On behalf of us all at De Zwarte Hond we wish you a merry Christmas and an exciting 2016!
