Assen Town Hall

The elongated location on Noordersingel in the centre of Assen and the need to retain certain buildings, led to the preparation of a plan in which parts of buildings, existing and new, were used in subtle ways to improve the definition of this complex urban space. The various elements of the buildings define and accentuate the urban space. The provision of a glass roof over the space between these components has resulted in a pronounced feeling of spaciousness, a continuation of the town outside, the urban interior.
