Herta Mohr and IKC De Brug nominated for the Architectenweb Awards 2025

Both Herta Mohr and IKC De Brug have been nominated for the Architectenweb Awards 2025 in the category School Building of the Year. From no fewer than 25 submissions, the jury selected four projects – two of which were designed by De Zwarte Hond.

The jury on Herta Mohr: “In the renovation of the structuralist university building on the edge of Leiden’s city centre, De Zwarte Hond made bold interventions while preserving the character of the building.” The jury considers this a remarkable achievement.

“IKC De Brug is an atmospheric school that is both compact and generous. Instead of corridors, there is a large central space that can be used for a variety of activities […]. Classrooms that look out in all directions and are connected to the surrounding greenery. In short, a natural, tactile, and spacious environment that you would wish for young children.”

The award ceremony will take place on 5 November 2025 at the Keilepand in Rotterdam.

A special thanks to the jury for this wonderful recognition:
Christina Kaiser (Braaksma & Roos), architect Metin van Zijl (Studioninedots), architect Maartje Nuy (Studio Nuy van Noort), landscape architect Hannah Schubert (B+B), architect Rob Meurders (diederendirrix), and architectural photographer/architect Sebastian van Damme.
