Shaping the future in Herne: kick-off for Blumenthal hoch3

With a public participation event, the Blumenthal hoch3 project in Herne has had a strong start. More than 200 residents came together to discuss the future of the former mining site. The high level of engagement shows that the transformation of this place is being actively shaped together – openly, inclusively and through dialogue.

De Zwarte Hond, together with Grieger Harzer Dvorak and commissioned by BEG Herne, is developing the urban framework plan for the approximately 26-hectare site. The aim is a car-light, climate-resilient business district that offers space for research-oriented companies, new ways of working, and a strong connection between landscape, work and mobility.

The framework plan will be presented in spring and discussed publicly once again. We look forward to the next phase of this special project.

With thanks for the pleasant collaboration so far: City of Herne, Dr. Frank Dudda, Nina Dvorak, ISR – Innovation for Urban Development, Dott Blue, L+S Landscape and Settlement.
