in the late 1970s, architect Joop van Stigt designed a unique building for the Faculty of Humanities at Leiden University: Cluster Zuid (South Cluster). A good example of Dutch structuralist architecture, the building will undergo a comprehensive renovation led by De Zwarte Hond. The renovation both complements and enhances the existing design. in this way the building represents not only the spirit of Van Stigt’s time but also reflects the spirit of today. The refurbished faculty building will form an important part of the renewed Humanities Campus located in the historic city centre of Leiden.
