De Zwarte Hond wins design competition Tempelhofer Feld
De Zwarte Hond was announced as one of the winners of the design competition for Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin, organized by the State of Berlin.
Out of 164 international submissions, the jury selected six winners. Their statement reads: “The aim of the selection was to award designs which not only offer exceptional conceptual ideas and design solutions but also demonstrate a broad scope of possible developments.” The jury was looking for “viable and debatable ideas for the future of Tempelhofer Feld, its connection to the surrounding neighborhoods, and the broader city context.”
We are thrilled that our design “Seilziehn” (loosely translated as give and take), developed in collaboration with Grieger Harzer Dvorak Landscape Architects, convinced the jury. The design aims to expand the Tempelhofer Feld by carefully opening it up both spatially and functionally, incorporating its edges and surroundings to create new connections — while preserving the vast, open character at its core.
All winning designs will now serve as the foundation for the third dialogue-oriented workshop hosted by the State of Berlin in July, focused on the future of Tempelhofer Feld.
Congratulations to all the other winners!
