De Zwarte Hond wins contract to renovate Utrecht University Museum

De Zwarte Hond has come first in the architects selection for the contract to renovate the University Museum in the historic town centre of Utrecht. The aim is to develop the museum into a generic platform for Utrecht University that can provide a substantial contribution towards the presentation of the social impact of research at the university. The existing building no longer meets modern standards: the entrance is too small, there is no clear routing, and the adjoining botanical gardens are difficult to see from the street.

De Zwarte Hond has presented a concept that will make the museum more open, flexible, sustainable and future-proof. In September De Zwarte Hond and the university will commence the design for the renewed museum, with completion being scheduled some time in 2018.
