Exhibition De Zwarte Hond at Aedes in Berlin

From 25 October to 3 December 2025, De Zwarte Hond presents the exhibition ‘Optimistic Activism. Architecture, urban planning and the power of generosity’ at Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin.

Through the methods and projects of De Zwarte Hond, they generate optimistic impulses – creating places that bring people together and enrich community life. Optimistic Activism unfolds across two exhibition spaces at Aedes. The HOW illustrates the collaborative way of working, where generosity shapes both spatial and social approaches. A spatial installation of films and a live chart reveal sources of inspiration, references, and ways of collaborating. The WHAT showcases twelve projects through models, drawings and photographs, demonstrating how social engagement, design expertise and craftsmanship translate into built reality.

Generosity
According to De Zwarte Hond, generosity means creating space for discussion, experimentation, and collective learning. It is reflected in transparent workflows, a willingness to include external voices, and a commitment to designing projects that go beyond the needs of individual stakeholders. This approach shapes not only the final building but the entire process – from the first sketch to completion.
