junior architect

For our office in Groningen, we are looking for a junior architect for 32-40 hours per week on short notice. Are you a talented and driven architect looking to take the next step?

About you:

• you have a completed degree in architecture from a Technical University/Academy of Architecture, or engineering from a University of Applied Sciences
• you hold the architect title
• at least 3 years of practical experience
• excellent command of Archicad, Sketch-up, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
• you contribute conceptual ideas, but also have extensive knowledge about craftsmanship in architecture
• are familiar with Dutch Building Regulations
• assertive, enterprising and communicative
• are a strong team player in a design team
• are enthusiastic, collegial, resourceful and eager to learn
• having a good command of Dutch, English language skills are an advantage
• are curious about new developments in our working field and looking for innovation in design

What will you do?

You will work in the architecture team in Groningen designing our broad portfolio, within the signature of De Zwarte Hond. We work on a broad palette of assignments, responding to the challenges we face. Think mixed residential programmes, such as social housing and high-rise buildings. Primary schools, secondary schools and university buildings. Urban design projects, transformation tasks, and details 1:5. Wooden buildings and buildings made of bio-based materials. We work on monuments for the future.

De Zwarte Hond is a design agency for architecture and urban planning. Based in Groningen, Rotterdam and Cologne, with over 110 employees, we enjoy working on projects characterised by a surprising naturalness. We are committed to our designs, and take responsibility for their realisation. The final product must be as ambitious and beautiful as the first ideas we bring to the table.

Recent projects by De Zwarte Hond include Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam, Alliander Westpoort in Amsterdam, Mercado Groningen and Superhub Meerstad. Currently, we are working on several projects in the Gruno neighbourhood, the transformation of De Suikerzijde and housing projects MO*TOWN track 8 and De Louise in Amsterdam, among others.
