Project Lomanlaan featured in exhibition Creating space

Yesterday, this exhibition created by the Architecture Centre AORTA opened in Utrecht. The central theme is Utrecht’s urban growth and its impact on our surroundings. How do we create space for living, working and life in an increasingly crowded city?

Several new construction projects in Utrecht show how people, animals and nature can live together in the modern city. De Zwarte Hond’s project Lomanlaan is also featured. These two new residential towers, adjacent to the Transwijk park, are commissioned by housing corporation Woonin. They have a striking appearance with powerful plasticity created by the prefabricated masonry facade and the deep recesses. With a solid concrete base 5 metres high, including a teahouse and town houses, the towers match the buildings of Transwijk in terms of height. Over the next few years, these towers will be built by ERA Contour.

The strategic spacing of the towers restores the view from the neighbourhood onto the park. This is enhanced by underground parking for cars and bikes, with the greenery of the park becoming a continuous landscape.

You can still visit the exhibition until 28 June 2024. More info can be found on the Architecture Centre AORTA’s website.
