De Zwarte Hond, together with IMD engineers, is designing the beating heart of Campus District U in the Vlaardingen River Zone, the vibrant former Unilever site, creating the place for education, sports, and community. Yesterday, the unveiling of the construction banner marked the transition to the next phase in the development of the campus in District U.
On the campus, Lentiz Geuzencollege (upper-level pre-vocational secondary education) and Albeda College (vocational education) will come together in a modern, multifunctional four-storey building, including a sports hall that will also be available for local sports clubs.
The building will be an inviting place where students, staff, and visitors feel welcome. Its robust, industrial character reflects the craftsmanship of the students and expresses pride: this is my school! Inside, the use of wood and a small-scale layout create a pleasant environment for learning and working.
The environmental permit will be submitted in 2026, with construction starting in 2027. Completion is expected in 2028 or 2029.
