Tax office in “Ort und Illusion” exhibition at Berliner Architektur Galerie
The “Ort und Illusion” exhibition at the Berliner Architektur Galerie is on show up to and including 3 March. The installation – designed by Wiewiorra Hopp Schwark Architekten ? reflects on the new tax office building in Oranienburg, designed by Wiewiorra Hopp Schwark Architekten and De Zwarte Hond. It clarifies the concept of the administration building which, given the proximity of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, required a particularly carefully-considered design. The installation refers to the twisting and ambiguous directions of the floor plan’s composition. The interplay of lines over two floor levels recurs graphically in the abstract sculpture and acts as an optical illusion.
De Zwarte Hond and Wiewiorra Hopp Schwark Architekten won first prize with their design for the expansion of the tax office in 2013. The building will be completed in the spring of 2018. Further information about the exhibition is available on the Berliner Architektur Galerie website.
