
The Lelylijn in 100 years
De Zwarte Hond and Polyfern Landscape Architects are working on behalf of the Lelylijn project organization on the Lelylijn Master Plan. This plan looks at regional policy, infrastructure, and long-term spatial quality in an integrated way.
The project team is exploring what the railway line could mean in a hundred years’ time—for the Netherlands as a whole, for the region, and for the towns and villages along the route. At the heart of the study lies the question: how can the Lelylijn contribute to pleasant living, working, and quality of life in the north of the Netherlands?
At the end of 2025, a report will be published presenting four future scenarios that illustrate the potential impact of the Lelylijn. This week, Bart van Leeuwen of De Zwarte Hond and Jorrit Noordhuizen of Polyfern Landscape Architects shared more about their approach.
