New project: green building for Almere Buiten
Almere Buiten Centrum will gain 224 new homes. Buitenburen, designed by De Zwarte Hond, responds to the high housing demand in Almere while introducing a new living concept centered on nature, climate adaptation, and social connection. It incorporates smart solutions to tackle heat stress and water flooding, with ample space for meeting and biodiversity.
Buitenburen will feature an inner courtyard with large trees for the neighborhood and shared rooftop terraces for residents. More than 20% of the façade will be covered with greenery, growing on a grid made of reused mooring posts.
In addition to apartments for starters and seniors, the development will include a shared living room (Buurt Stek), hospitality venues, creative workshops, and a care plaza. Living, meeting, and amenities come together here under one roof.
Completion is expected around mid-2030.
