Construction Begins: 147 New Homes Coming to Elzenhagen Zuid
Construction of Noordhof 4 has officially begun. The residential block is part of the new Elzenhagen Zuid neighbourhood in Amsterdam Noord and will add 147 new homes. De Zwarte Hond, together with KRFT and Bovenbouw, designed residential blocks Noordhof 4 and 5 and serves as the coordinating architect.
Noordhof 4 has a playful and varied design. The block appears as a collection of small individual buildings, each with its own distinct character. The mix of 85 mid-market rental homes and 62 owner-occupied homes—ranging from family houses and maisonettes to apartments—creates a diverse housing offering. With gently undulating façades, soft lines and refined brick detailing, the design offers a contemporary nod to Amsterdam’s historic cityscape.
We look forward to seeing this new neighbourhood take shape, bringing together residents of different backgrounds, life stages and housing needs around a shared green courtyard.
