De Zwarte Hond participates in exhibition at DAZ architecture centre in Berlin

The exhibition “New Standards. Ten Theses on Housing” opened last 27 October at the German Architecture Centre (DAZ) in Berlin. Ten architects, including De Zwarte Hond partner Matthias Rottmann, formulate relevant New Standards for housing construction. In his essay, Matthias Rottman explores the meaning and opportunities offered by “serial” architecture to current and future housing.

The “New Standards” stand for a way of living that gets back to the essentials and offers a rich atmosphere, for compact housing and for housing with flexible spatial structures. Topics include how housing can remain affordable, how people can participate in the evolution of their cities, and how density can be a form of potential in urban life.

The exhibition will continue through 22 January in the DAZ architecture centre in Berlin. It opens from Wednesdays to Sundays from 3 to 8p.m. After Berlin the exhibition will head to other cities.
