Highlighting projects for the Circular Economy Week

‘We need to stop creating buildings that only last 50 years! We design buildings that are flexible and sustainable, but at the same time age beautifully and fit into their context,’ states Erik Roerdink architect/partner at De Zwarte Hond.

During the Circular Economy Week, we are happy to highlight the parties we work with to create circular, sustainable and inclusive projects.

  • Like HARRYVAN and Bwri, with whom we are realising the circular renovation of Cluster South. We are keeping most of the original building and the old ceiling slats are reused as wall finishes in the new atrium.
  • Like Dura Vermeer and IMd Raadgevende Ingenieurs, with whom we realised Alliander Westpoort; a sustainable and flexible regional office. Choosing timber construction minimises the impact on the environment as it is less harmful to nature. Moreover, the use of toxic materials has been avoided as much as possible, contributing to a healthier and more environmentally friendly working environment.
  • Like Nijestee and Trebbe, with whom we work intensively in the Grunobuurt area, to create sustainable and pleasant buildings. Paying attention to climate adaptation and nature inclusiveness via indoor gardens and timber construction.

A circular way of thinking, designing and working is urgent and therefore a priority for us. We use our energy to promote this integrally through our projects.

We show that we meet this challenge with an ‘Olympic Ambition’ in our latest bookazine OutThere #5 ‘The Future is Near’. This will be available via our website from next week onwards.
