In conversation with Herman Hertzberger
Last week, Lisa van der Slot, architect and partner at De Zwarte Hond, engaged in a conversation with Herman Hertzberger during the sold-out book presentation of Shaping Freedom at Het Nieuwe Instituut.
The 93-year-old architect spoke with young designers about the future of architecture and the role of the architect in society. His new book, Shaping Freedom, like his earlier publications, is both a plea for a more socially engaged architecture and a sharp reflection on current practice.
Lisa was invited to share her perspective on social architecture and to reflect on the continued relevance of Hertzberger’s ideas — in her role as architect and partner at De Zwarte Hond, and as the current editor-in-chief of FORUM.
