Lighthouse and Hart van de Waalsprong published in the Architecture in the Netherlands yearbook
On May 7, NAI010 Publishers presented the Architecture in the Netherlands Yearbook 2025/2026. Each year, an independent editorial team selects the projects that represent the most significant developments in Dutch architecture. We are proud that no fewer than two projects by De Zwarte Hondhave been included in this 39th edition: Lighthouse and Hart van de Waalsprong.
Lighthouse is a 109-metre-high residential tower located in Strijp-S, featuring 324 rental apartments, nine penthouses, and public functions at ground level. The building forms the final piece of the urban masterplan for the former Philips site, designed by West8
, and connects to the area’s industrial heritage through its brick architecture and detailing. With integrated outdoor spaces, communal rooftop gardens, and a transparent plinth, Lighthouse contributes to a vibrant and recognisable skyline for Eindhoven.
Hart van de Waalsprong is the new amenities centre for Nijmegen-Noord, connecting the Waalsprong district with Nijmegen’s historic city centre. The project includes an urban masterplan, retail spaces, hospitality venues, and hundreds of homes arranged around a central public square that serves as a meeting place for residents and visitors alike. Alongside De Zwarte Hond , the project involved Atelier BRINK, Korth Tielens Architecten, Level of Detail Architecten (LoD), and Monadnock. The landscape design was created by De Urbanisten. Together, these studios worked on creating a cohesive architectural ensemble.
The editorial team for the 2025/2026 yearbook consisted of Stephan Petermann, Annuska Pronkhorst, and Thomas Bedaux.
