New contemporary work space for researchers at Health Hub Roden

Health Hub Roden’s new facilities opened in March 2016. Various knowledge and other institutes and organisations are working together in a multi-tenant building on the theme of Healthy Ageing: growing up and growing old healthily.

De Zwarte Hond has transformed the interior of the second floor into a flexible, open space where researchers, lecturers, students, businesses, and care and welfare establishments can collaborate on research and innovative solutions for problems encountered in everyday practice in the health sector.

In this project, design and execution overlapped and solutions were devised and sketched on the spot. Advising on and coordinating the entire project ? from design to realisation ? was crucial for the fine-tuning of planning, quality monitoring, product purchasing, supplier and partner selection, cost reduction, and implementation. This integral approach facilitated the realisation of this plan within a task-based budget and a tight schedule.

Fifty-five parties were involved in Health Hub Roden.  The most important were: Hanzehogeschool, UMCG, VDL Wientjes, Healthy Ageing Network, Technologie Centrum Noord-Nederland, Het Noorderpoort college, the province of Drenthe, Noordenveld municipality, Groningen Assen region and the province of Groningen.
