The Orchard in Rijswijk reaches its highest point
A major milestone for the construction of The Orchard: the highest point has been reached! With this, De Zwarte Hond’s design ambition is increasingly taking shape in the skyline of Rijswijk.
The Orchard consists of two buildings – The Orchard I (designed by De Zwarte Hond) and Orchard II (designed by Nudus) – with a total of 509 apartments. The project is located in the heart of the vibrant Bogaard city centre and marks an important step in the transformation into a sustainable, green urban district.
What makes The Orchard special?
The project offers ample space for trees, greenery, and water. There will be a rooftop garden with rainwater storage, bird nesting boxes, wide cycling and walking paths, and a large bicycle parking facility for residents. The shape of the buildings is also unique: from the first floor upwards, they taper, creating terraces. These will be planted year-round with vegetation that is attractive to both people and animals.
Completion is scheduled for 2026.
