AIA Lecture | Bart van Kampen – Proximity as a Prerequisite for Livable Cities

During this lecture, organized by the Architectuur Informatiecentrum Alkmaar (AIA), Bart van Kampen — partner/architect at De Zwarte Hond — explores how community facilities close to home contribute to livable and vibrant neighborhoods.

The pressure on the housing market is immense. With the ambition to build 100,000 homes per year, an important question arises: how do we ensure that the facilities essential to quality of life are not overlooked?

Using current projects such as Hart van de Waalsprong, Stadshart Stadshagen, Prinses Beatrixplein, The Orchard, and PEN-dorp, Bart demonstrates how housing, social and community programs, and commercial functions can be carefully integrated.
