Construction update BWRI Sappemeer
De Zwarte Hond designed a sustainable, circular building for the Work, Reintegration and Income Agency (BWRI). The new timber front building makes the circular design principles immediately visible. The office section is built in a demountable way, using wooden floors, trusses and columns. A large portion of the existing steel trusses has been given a second life, while the concrete floors from the original building now serve as formwork for the new floors. This significantly reduces the CO₂ footprint.
The exposed timber will give the office a warm, natural appearance and contribute to a healthy working environment. The entire timber structure was completed within three weeks.
Progress and planning
Construction is progressing according to schedule. After completing the timber structure, work on the façade and interior finishing began. The brickwork façade has now been completed, and substantial progress is being made on the interior. Handover is scheduled for the end of February.
