A cohesive whole in the new station area

Dijk & Waard on the way to a future-proof public transport hub

With the signing of the letter of intent by the Municipality of Dijk en Waard, the Province of North Holland, NS Stations, and ProRail at the end of last year, an important milestone has been reached. De Zwarte Hond and Arcadis have drawn up the Development Plan, aiming to transform this area into a modern, well-connected, and future-proof mobility hub.

The design is taking shape step by step. Through smart and integrated design, the plan includes renewed station squares, a covered bicycle parking facility, an improved bus station, and a brand-new station building. All of this is being developed in conjunction with the construction of 5,500 new homes and amenities, turning the station into the vibrant heart of a dynamic living and working environment.

In addition, the project seamlessly connects to broader infrastructure developments, such as the Zuidtangent rail underpass and improved connections between the Langedijk and Heerhugowaard sides of the station.
