NoordBaak construction has started
Last week, the start was marked for construction of a new ensemble at NDSM-Werf. NoordBaak is a mixed building block with owner-occupied and rental flats, and public facilities.
The design follows the language of the existing environment, but also has a surprising individuality. All buildings are in tone on tone colours with slightly different hues, tectonics and heights that fit well together. This is combined with honest and beautifully ageing materials, a strong connection between inside and outside, unambiguous and clear building masses and silhouettes. NoordBaak is a fusion of these characteristics that can stand the test of time, and together form one powerful building.
The houses take the relationship with the water into account as much as possible. Directly adjacent to the IJ, they form real beacons and ‘watchtowers’ and have therefore been given appropriate names: De Groote Kaap and De Kleine Kaap. Residents can enjoy views of the water and the city from the large windows and outdoor spaces. At the same time, the green courtyard allows for meeting neighbours and other residents. Best of both worlds!
