From Model to Metropolis

Arcam presents the exhibition From Model to Metropolis: Urban Expansion in Amsterdam 1986–2026 from 8 May through 27 September 2026. The exhibition brings together forty years of urban development through a series of iconic and influential projects.

Among the 35 models illustrating four decades of Amsterdam’s architectural history, De Zwarte Hond is represented with the model of Alliander Westpoort. Within the theme The Just City (2016–2025), this award-winning project (AAP 2024) is presented alongside leading developments such as De Nederlandsche Bank and Nationaal Holocaust Namenmonument.

Together with Alliander and partners IMd Raadgevende Ingenieurs, Copper8 and DGMR, we realised Alliander Westpoort as a future-proof design featuring a fully timber structure.
The summer exhibition opens this Friday, 8 May at 17:00 at Arcam in Amsterdam.
