Third place for MO*Town Track 8 at the 2025 Zuiderkerk Prize

At the Zuiderkerk Prize ceremony, the municipality, together with a jury of independent professionals, assessed the qualities of 63 residential buildings completed in 2024–2025. Special recognition was awarded to the project Mo*Town Track 8.

The jury selected three distinctive, metropolitan residential buildings on complex development sites and evaluated not only the buildings themselves, but also their urban integration, the collaboration between architect and client, and their contribution to the future of Amsterdam.

Our submission, designed by De Zwarte Hond on behalf of BPD | Bouwfonds Gebiedsontwikkeling, provides a powerful architectural impulse to the transformation of the former monofunctional office area around Sloterdijk Station.

The jury praised, among other aspects, the carefully designed façades in shimmering black brickwork, the collective space between the towers that opens up as it rises, as well as the stepped terraces, façade gardens, and spectacular sky bridges. The building brings residents together and contributes to inclusive community building. The wide variety of apartment layouts within the building was also explicitly highlighted.
